"shelving" was exhibited and performed at the Penticton and District Community Arts Council (BC) from May 10 til August 3, 2025.
Responding to the prompt “Reflections on Heritage,” I performed some simple, transformative gestures on everyday objects and small artworks.
In an installation and performance titled “shelving” that includes these objects, I’m looking at the more peculiar, intangible qualities of inheritance. Especially within a working-class context—where inheritance does not necessarily correspond with endowment or curios of high monetary value—a sentimentality and specificity in character often inform inherited properties. These come together to inform a kind of familial culture or sensibility.
